Coaches Code of Conduct
As a coach of Elmbrook Youth Hockey Association (EYHA), I hereby pledge to conduct myself in a manner that complies with the “Zero Tolerance Policy” of USA Hockey.
As a coach, I agree to:
- Be a positive role model to your players and fellow coaches. Display emotional maturity and be alert to the physical safety of the players.
- Respect your opponent’s coaches and players, and the officials.
- Be generous with praise when deserved and consistent and fair when critiquing the efforts of all players. Demeaning and abusive criticism/behavior is to be avoided.
- Impress upon the players the importance of good health and clean living for their own well being and improved performance.
- Player development is the primary consideration in evaluating the success of the season. Transfer your knowledge of the rules, techniques and strategies of hockey to your players.
- Maintain an open line of communication with the players’ parents and enlist their support to instill proper respect and support for the team’s goals.
- It is expected that coaches, players and spectators exercise total cooperation with their respective Code of Conduct at all times.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct, on the part of coaches, players or spectators will not be tolerated and may result, without warning, in expulsion or suspension from the Elmbrook Youth Hockey Association or the Ponds of Brookfield. No individual or team refunds will be given if expulsion or suspension occurs.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct includes, but is not limited to: trash talking, bullying, taunting, foul language. verbal abuse, and/or intimidation of teammates, opponents, spectators, game officials or other Association members. Any instances of such behavior may be brought to the attention of an Elmbrook Youth Hockey Associate coach or board member. Coaches Contracts
Coaches contracts are reviewed with the Hockey Director upon Coach Selection after the completion of evaluations.
